【摘要】:Thistestmethoddistinguishesbetweenhotmeltshavingdifferentapparentviscosities.Itisbelievedthatapparentviscositydeterminedbythisprocedureisrelatedtoflowperformanceinapplicationmachineryoperatingunderconditionsoflowshearrate.Apparentviscosityasdeterminedbythistestmethodmaynotcorrelatewellwithend-useapplicationswherehighshearratesareencountered.Materialsofthetypedescribedinthisproceduremaybequitenon-Newtonianandassuch,theapparentviscositywillbeafunctionofshearrateundertheconditionsoftest.Althoughtheviscometerdescribedinthistestmethodgenerallyoperatesunderconditionsofrelativelylowshearrate,differencesinsheareffectcanexistdependinguponthespindleandrotationalspeedconditionsselectedforthetestprogram.Maximumcorrelationbetweenlaboratories,therefore,dependsupontestingunderconditionsofequivalentshear.ApproximateshearratesusingvariousspindlesareshowninTable.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheapparentviscosityofhotmeltadhesivesandcoatingmaterialscompoundedwithadditivesandhavingapparentviscositiesupto200000millipascalsecond(mPax00B7;s)(Note3)attemperaturesupto175x00B0;C(347x00B0;F).Note18212;Althoughprecisionhasnotbeenstudied,thisproceduremaybeadaptabletoviscositieshigherthanthepresent200000-mPax00B7;slimitandtemperaturesabove175x00B0;C(347x00B0;F).Equipmentdescribedinthistestmethodpermitstestingofmaterialshavingviscositiesashighas16x00D7;106mPax00B7;sandprovidestemperaturesupto260x00B0;C(500x00B0;F).Note28212;Forpetroleumwaxesandtheirblendshavingapparentviscositiesbelow15mPax00B7;s,TestMethodD445isespeciallyapplicable.Note38212;Onepascalsecond(Pax00B7;s)=1000centipoise(CP);onemillipascalsecond=onecentipoise.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
